On the strength of their performance last season, Eilidh Redpath and Fraser Wilson were selected to attend two separate weekend camps as part of Scottish swimming youth development squad. So instead of tucking into the festive leftovers, the talented duo spent four days at the second of these training camps in Stirling at the National swimming academy between 27-30 December.
They were part of a group of sixty youngsters from across the country, who took part in intensive training. National coach Alyn Lynn, highlighted the importance of the camp, stating “Once again it will be fantastic to welcome the swimmers and coaches to the national swimming academy, there is now a collective motivation towards improving as both swimmers and athletes both in and out of the pool. Critical to these improvements is the support of the home coaches attending whom on a day to day basis can make such an impact”
The main focus was training hard and smart, improving skills in the pool and on land, application and approach undertaken in all activities, with some fun activities including a dance class and bowling, and the ongoing commitment to mindset improvement.
Head coach Colin Barton, also attended the camp enjoyed the experience and said “Eilidh and Fraser showed up well in the company, of some of the top youth swimmers in the country. It was an intense four days which will hopefully prepare them well for a successful season ahead.
