Midlothian Swimming Club

East District Age Group Championships

The second round of these championships was held at Bathgate in early December 2012.

In the first session, Kimberley MacKay eased into the final of the 200m butterfly breaking the club record in the process. In the final she improved on her time again to claim the bronze medal.

In the same session, Vaila Robertson set a new best time in the same event and both Iain Doyle and Andrew Denholm swam to personal best times in the 200m backstroke.

Session 2 saw Lauren Sutherland qualify fifth for the final of the 200m freestyle where she later improved both her time and position to finish fourth in a new personal best time. Also in this event Anna Mackay had a great swim setting a new personal best.

Andrew and Iain continued their good form in the 200m breaststroke, both reducing their times considerably.

Day 3 got off to a good start with personal best swims from Lauren Sutherland and Beth McFarlane in the 200m backstroke and Kimberley MacKay did enough to reach her second final where she finished fifth.

In the final session, Ross Muego had a good swim in the 200m freestyle only marginally outside his best.

Meanwhile in the 200m breaststroke there were personal best swims from Anna MacKay, Amy Sylvester, Lauren Sutherland and Beth Denholm. The latter 2 reached their respective final where they were joined by Beth McFarlane and Kimberley MacKay.

Lauren was pressed all the way in the final but eventually emerged with the Gold after further reducing her time. Beth McFarlane produced a storming last 50m to claim the bronze in the same race.

In the older age group, Kimberley and Beth Denholm finished fourth and sixth respectfully.
