Alloa Open Meet

A small team attended this meet at the magnificent new Peak Centre in Stirling on 19th & 20th June 2010.

First to compete was Calum Archibald in the 200m backstroke where he reduced his personal best time by over 5 seconds. He was followed by Jenny Jubb in the 200m butterfly and she responded with a very good personal best swim.

In the 11/12 years 400m Freestyle, Beth Denholm reduced her time by 6 seconds before Amy Flynn had a good swim in the open 100m freestyle.

The second session got off to a great start with Hebe Ramsay reducing her 200m freestyle time by over 9 seconds and there were also good swims from Beth Denholm and Kimberley MacKay in this event despite Kimberley swimming whilst suffering from a virus.

In the next event, Michael Flynn set a new club record for the 50m breaststroke during his 200m swim where he eventually finished 4th.

Beth Gray and Jenny Jubb were marginally outside their best in the 200m backstroke and 200m freestyle respectfully. Calum Archibald then set a new junior club record in the 200m butterfly with a great swim which reduced his time by over 18 seconds.

Amy Flynn then swam a very gutsy 200m freestyle reducing her time by 3 seconds before Hebe Ramsay and Beth Denholm produced times just on their PBs in the 200m IM.

Michael Flynn set his second club record of the weekend in the 400m freestyle in the process of winning bronze and reducing his time by a fantastic 21 seconds. Jenny Jubb followed this by knocking 3 seconds off her 200m IM time which brought the 3rd session to a close.

Leigh Stadnik got the final session of to a great start when he dipped under 60 seconds for the first time in the 100m freestyle, then Michal Flynn won Gold in the 2oom freestyle despite being slightly outside his best. Jenny Jubb capped a fine weekend with a 10 second PB in the 200m breaststroke and Beth Gray also had a very good swim in the same event reducing her time by almost 4 seconds. In the final event of the meet, Helen Cassidy swam a very good 200m IM.
